Worth the Read

This book has been a help to me. I did as the author suggested and read the book cover-to-cover, then went back and worked through some of the exercises in the downloaded workbook. As a little background, I am a nearly-hopelessly left-brained thinker. Having been in management positions in my working life, control is my middle name. Since reading this book and working on exercises, I've been able to improve two areas of my golf game: imagination and commitment. By imagination, I mean being able to "see" the shot I intend and keep that picture in mind as I prepare to swing. I play catch frequently with my sons and I think of my intended or pictured golf shot to be much like when I intend to throw a curve or slider. If I intend to hit a low draw, then I picture it and swing the swing I feel will give me that shot. That also ties into commitment. Once I decide to hit a particular shot, my whole focus is on hitting that shot. That attitude keeps me committed to the exact shot I want and my results, especially as I get close to or on the green, frequently amaze me. Why only four stars then? In my case, a lot of the information is not new; I'm simply doing it now. Also, I found some of the exercises in the workbook to be moderately to non-helpful, perhaps a bit too "new-age" for an old guy like me.

Great little book!

Great little book that improves your thinking on the golf course. Especially like the section on self talk, listening to people after reading this book has opened my eyes to just how negative people can be. I now have a very much " can do " attitude, have become more organised and have been hitting some great golf shots!!! Thank you Sue !!

Changed my game immediately

I will always be grateful to Sue Wieger for writing this wonderful book. Chapter One (titled "Your WHY of Golf") by itself is worth much more than the price of this book. Sue offers an exercise that invites you to explore the reasons why you play golf and what you really enjoy about playing golf. This exercise is powerful, beyond what I could have imagined.

I love playing golf but I was also feeling way too much stress and frustration about this great game. Sue asks this question in her book: "Are you playing the game of golf or working at the game of golf?"

After doing the exercise to identify my WHYS of playing golf, I made a decision to play without keeping score for a while. What a difference it made! I am more relaxed on the golf course and I am enjoying the game more than ever. In addition, I am hitting better shots. Sue explains that your peak performance is tied into being congruent with your WHY. It's true.

By the way, Sue isn't suggesting that everyone stop keeping score. Everybody's WHYS are different and what matters is that you are true to yourself and take actions consistent with your WHYS.

Every golfer, regardless of skill level, can benefit from this book. I highly recommend it.

Terrific Value!

I used to play the Atlantean system when I was in college, but lost my books somewhere along the way to now. I was able to get the 2nd edition Arcanum, but when I looked for the Lexicon and Beastiary, they were anywhere from $30-$150! I showed the Arcanum to my son and he started digging until he found this book. This has the complete Lexicon and Beastiary, plus has some more pages about religion in Atlantis, and a few other useful addendums. This book is well worth the money to anyone that likes this role playing system. It has conversion rules to use with other systems as well.

Overall, if you are a fan of this or any other fantasy RPG, this book is well worth the money. I give it 5 stars partly because of the value of getting both books in one, partly for the wealth of information in the book, and because this system is so much easier to use than D&D!

Great world setting. Actually based with the Arcanum system which is like the old 2.0 D&D I think. It's based on old Earth so there is Mu and Atlantis and integrates a lot of old mythology. Great for a fantasy setting.

Ostrovsky blends strong, but fallible characters in a fast-paced story that runs along the edge of plausibility. Unlike the many serial heroes in the action/thriller/spy categories, you never really feel like any one of the characters is a sure thing to make it to the end.

I have read all Victor Ostrovsky books. However, both "deception" books which were non-fiction (both books are about the time that Mr. Ostrovsky was with MOSSAD and after that) were quite different from Mr. Ostrovsky's last two novels, "The Lion of Judah" and "Black Ghosts". In my opinion, the theme of none of his novels were original. The story of "Black Ghosts" is very similar to several books written earlier on by others about the renegade elements with Russian military and intelligence who are opposed to any sort of democracy in Russia. Everything in this book is so predicatable that after reading the first few chapters the reader can easily predict and guess what will happen next.

If you want a peek into the world of espionage, agents, counter-agents and the pursuit of power, than this is the book for you. Fast paced, twists and turns, but with the thread of reality that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. Hopefully this is just the first in a series by this author who was an insider and former Mossad agent. A great read that keeps you thinking long after the book is finished.

Not my favorite in the series

I have loved this series from the beginning and when rereading it I found out that there were 4 more books. I one-clicked without reading the blurb and after a few chapters I regretted it. However I needed to know how it ended. Some really messed up things happen between Vince and Maggie that I personally would not be able to overlook but maybe forgive. But after reading the rest of the books I have to say that I'm glad I continued to read them and not give up on this series.

This book is not nearly as good as the previous books in this series. I am hanging in hoping this author can bring back this storyline in keeping with the original story. Right now the main characters look like a bunch of weirdos.

Another crazy story. Good crazy!

While I adore how Arkadie writes, and I love these characters, this one has a bit more crazy than usual. Always fast paced with a great story line and lots of crazy good sex. Reading in order to get background info will make the reading better. Most Definitely RECOMMENDED.
